The Smashing Workshop - The friendlier, simpler approach to professional copywriting

The Smashing Workshop is, essentially, all about words. There are a lot of words, aren't there? In fact, there's about a quarter of a million of the blighters in everyday use, and that's just in the English language.

I can't help you with any of the others (my knowledge of German is less than spitze and my command of French has seen better jours) but as a copywriter I know a thing or two about English, and I'm all too aware of how the power of words alone can either ruin a project or see it achieve greatness.

So, yes: I'm a copywriter. You'd be forgiven for thinking that I just write copy. Of course, I do write copy (my days would be pretty empty if I didn't!) but that doesn't accurately cover everything that goes on here at the workshop.

Alongside basic copywriting duties I also carry out research, create promotional videos, help optimize websites to get them as high up the search rankings as possible... Basically, anything that involves the transition between a vague idea to communicating it effectively to a target audience.

The project at hand can involve just about any subject going* - I've written detailed copy on how to knit a scarf having never touched a pair of knitting needles, helped create a Muslim dating site despite being neither Muslim nor single and successfully interviewed a massive U.S rap star even though I can't abide urban music. Research is a huge part of my work and I'm proud of the unique, accurate and effective results I produce.
